Your modern Mazda vehicle’s advanced Mazda i-Activsense® safety system has several components. We go over the main ones here, some of which can be found on a certified pre-owned Mazda vehicle on our lot.
Navigating Watertown roads in the dark can be a hassle. The AFS turns the headlights in the direction of the curve ahead, illuminating the curve to see the road ahead rather than pointing towards the side of the road.
The system allows drivers to choose between Lane-Trace, which provides steering assistance early in order to help keep the vehicle centered in the current lane, and Lane Departure Avoidance, which only comes into play if the vehicle begins to leave its lane. LAS uses a windshield-mounted camera to recognize lane markings on the road and activates at speeds above 37 mph.
For maximum night-driving visibility in Torrington, you’ll need to take advantage of your vehicle’s high beams. The HBC system uses an advanced camera system that can recognize when an oncoming or preceding vehicle is in your general vicinity, automatically switching between high and low beams. This means you can enjoy the greatest visibility without blinding drivers around you. You also won’t have to remember to dim the high beams.
MRCC is an advanced cruise control system that uses a millimeter wave radar to judge the relative speed and distance to the car ahead of you on Thomaston highways. Then, the system automatically accelerates and brakes in order to maintain a safe amount of buffer space. This system also includes the Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS), which lets drivers know the exact distance between their vehicle and the one in front of them.
The RVM system also utilizes radar to read the distance of a vehicle approaching from behind in the lanes beside your vehicle in order to make the driver aware of other vehicles in the area. Drivers will also receive an audible and visual warning if the system detects an oncoming vehicle in a neighboring lane when your turn signal is on.
This system is much like the Mazda lane keep assist features. It uses an advanced camera system that reads lane markers to recognize when your vehicle is drifting out of its lane. It will send you a warning to help avoid a dangerous situation. If your vehicle’s turn signal is turned on when the lane departure occurs, then the LDWS warning does not engage.
Utilizing similar radar technology to that of the Rear Vehicle Monitoring System, FOW is able to recognize when there is a vehicle or obstruction directly in front of the vehicle. If this system senses that the distance between the front of your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you is decreasing, it will automatically send a visual and audible alert that warns the driver to brake immediately.
Smart City Brake Support can automatically apply the brakes when you’re driving in the city at low speeds in order to avoid or mitigate the impact of a head-on collision.
For the select Mazda vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, Acceleration Control for AT automatically sends a warning to the driver if the accelerator is pressed too hard and there is an obstruction in front of the vehicle.
