A PHEV is also powered by an internal combustion engine and electric motor, although the motor is primarily powered by a battery. You plug in a PHEV to charge the battery and, if your charge runs low, it can switch to gasoline power.

A PHEV can travel at much longer distances using electric power, which can make them even more efficient.

You also have two eco-friendly Mazda plug-in hybrid SUVs to choose from, including the Mazda CX-70 PHEV and the Mazda CX-90 PHEV. In the midsize Mazda CX-70, you can drive up to 26 miles using electric power and it boasts an EPA-estimated 490-mile total driving range. There’s seating for up to eight in select Mazda CX-90 PHEV models and it provides the same impressive range.
